Marta Szymańska, Archeaology of Photography Foundation (Poland)

The vice-chairwoman of the Archeology of Photography Foundation – one of the more important organizations dealing with Polish photography. In 2005–2014 she co-created Fotofestiwal – the International Photography Festival in Łódź, and for four years served as program director. She created www.phototogo.pl, which gathers up-to-date information on the most important international photography competitions, grants, and residencies. She also works with the Sputnik Photos collective, supporting the international promotion of the group. She was coordinator of the European associations for Photo Festival Union and editor-in-chief of the first edition of “Photopoland,” a project to promote contemporary Polish photographers. She was also a reviewer during the international portfolio reviews and a competition juror. She has been awarded a Ministry of Culture scholarship.

Her special interest is documentary photography and projects that center on the archive. She is willing to talk about any project, however, including unfinished ones, if they need an attentive and experienced viewer, editor, and curator.
