Edgar Bąk

Edgar Bąk, graphic designer (Poland)

He works in visual communication in its broadest definition. He believes himself to be heir to the Polish graphic design tradition, from the interwar period to the People's Republic, right up to the free market of the early 1990s. He appreciates the Polish poster school's sense of humor. In his profession he focuses on designing visual identities – whether complex visual identity systems, and posters and album covers. He has won many awards, both for children's illustrations and for book designs, from The Ad Creators' Club (10 statuettes), The Applied Graphic Artists' Association, Book of the Year, Chimeras, and The Society of Publishing Designers in New York. He has held workshops in Japan and Israel, and he runs a publishing graphics course at Poznań's School of Form. He joined Charlotte West in preparing Projekt: The Polish Journal of Visual Art and Design for Unit Editions.
